Ian Taylor

Director of Aviation / Global Business Leader

Ian Taylor is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Director of Aviation with Arup.  He is based in Hong Kong.  Ian has more than 35 year’s experience in the planning and design of transportation infrastructure and has lived and worked in the UK, Ireland, USA and Asia.  During his 26 years with Arup he has worked on a number of high-profile transportation projects around the world. Ian currently leads Arup’s global aviation business including the East Asia region; which includes India and China among other regional markets.

Ian has a keen interest in the Philippine airport sector and in particular in the PPP developments of recent years. He led the multi-disciplinary Arup team responsible for the planning and engineering design of the new Terminal 2 at Mactan-Cebu International Airport and he is involved with concessionaires bidding for a range of other projects in the Philippines.  He is also leading the engineering joint venture delivering the design of Changi Airport’s Terminal 5.

Arup is one of most successful international business, planning and design consultancies with 90 offices in 38 countries and with more than 13,000 staff.  We have been established in the Philippines for more than 20 years and have completed a wide range of projects across a number of industry sectors.

Our projects include regional airports and major hubs and regional credits include Beijing T3 and Kunming airport in China. We worked with Hong Kong Airport in developing its Midfield and proposed 3rd Runway projects, and with the development of the Beijing New International Airport.  We are joint venture partners in the design of Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 3 and the design of Changi Airport’s Terminal 5.
